About this grant
The Flint Farmers’ Market is a key component of ongoing efforts to revitalize downtown Flint. Located in the Health and Wellness District, the market provides Flint residents with year-round access to fresh produce and locally grown foods. In addition, the market maintains an active calendar of community events, makes meeting space available to local groups, and supports food entrepreneurs through a commercial kitchen co-working space. In addition, market staff educates residents on the importance of healthy eating to mitigate the impact of lead. This grant will support operations of the facility as well as expanded programming. The Foundation for the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation receives and administers funds for charitable purposes and for the public welfare of Genesee County, Michigan, including its supported organization, the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation, which operates the Flint Farmers’ Market.
