About this grant

The project goal is to increase awareness and understanding of how the foreign policies of Western powers, and the perception of these policies by others, are shaping international relations. To this end, the Centre for Liberal Strategies Foundation, a think tank based in Sofia, Bulgaria, will lead an in-depth and interactive examination and analysis of the West’s policies in various regions of the world, including Eastern Europe and Russia. During the grant period, the grantee will convene a high level reflection group of ten to twelve policymakers and policy analysts from within and outside the West to conduct study visits to five key countries — Russia, Turkey, Iran, India, and Greece. The group will prepare a series of ten analytical reports based on these five case studies. Public debates and closed-door meetings throughout Europe will be organized to discuss the issues. A final report will summarize key findings and policy recommendations.
