About this grant

The project goal is to strengthen community philanthropy around the world by establishing links between the world’s premier global online giving platform and local philanthropic institutions in ways that will leverage and increase the efficiency of local giving. As part of its five-year, $17 million campaign to scale up its global crowdfunding platform to $100 million annually, GlobalGiving will develop an operating system for community philanthropy. During 2015-2019, the grantee will map the landscape of digital community philanthropy worldwide, launch locally customized and operated online giving platforms with community philanthropy organizations in up to three countries/regions, and create a community of practice to foster peer learning and ensure ongoing interoperability with the grantee’s online platform. With support from the Mott Foundation, GlobalGiving was founded in 2002 as a charity fundraising Website that gives social entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations from anywhere in the world a chance to raise money to improve their communities.
