About this grant
The program goal is to increase civic engagement in Ukraine by providing comprehensive educational programs for grassroots initiatives based on the principle of active citizen participation. Through its Institute for Leadership and Management, the Ukrainian Catholic University will refine courses and introduce methods and tools of participative decisionmaking, community mobilization, facilitation, and civic engagement into existing courses for its master’s in nonprofit management. It will also develop other certificate programs and trainings for nonprofit organization leaders while seeking to increase the pool of qualified trainers and strengthen the growing alumni network of the institute. In 2015-2017, the grantee held three extended Schools of Responsible Citizenship for 54 participants, supported 12 local projects involving over 2,000 participants from seven regions of Ukraine, and devised an online course in responsible citizenship intended to go live for the 2017-2018 academic year. Inaugurated in 2002, the Ukrainian Catholic University is a leading private educational institution in western Ukraine.
