About this grant
The program goal is to safeguard the legal space for civil society and philanthropy globally. The International Center for Not-for-Profit Law, based in Washington, D.C., will carry out a range of activities, including enhancing international norms and multilateral engagement to safeguard civic space, promoting appropriate country-level legislation, helping civil society organizations navigate laws once enacted, undertaking research and information sharing, and raising public awareness about the importance of civil society and cross-border philanthropy. To support its programmatic objectives, the grantee will also focus on developing the capacity of its in-country partners to address civic space challenges. The grantee will offer fellowship programs; organize professional development trainings at the country, regional, and global levels; and integrate civil society legal issues into university curricula to educate future lawyers, nonprofit leaders, and citizens on civil society issues.
