About this grant

The World Resources Institute was founded in 1982 to provide information, ideas, and solutions for global environmental problems. With previous Mott support, the grantee recently completed market mapping tools for the Tanzanian off-grid energy sector, introducing critical information on energy demand and end users’ ability to pay into the energy planning process. This renewal grant will support efforts to refine the planning tool and make it available to key Tanzanian government agencies in order to ensure the effort’s sustainability. In addition, the grantee will work with local governments in key Tanzanian regions to facilitate their use of the tool in economic development projects. The grantee also will share this work and lessons learned with a broader group of African civil society organizations to improve their energy planning efforts.
