About this grant
The program goal is to increase individual giving to local nonprofits and civic initiatives in Turkey. Support Foundation for Civil Society, a newly established Turkish foundation, will develop its organizational and programmatic capacities to facilitate systematic giving and mentoring to nonprofits by individuals in Turkey. The grantee was established in December 2014 by a group of emerging philanthropists and civil society activists interested in pooling their own funds and expertise to support Turkish civil society development. During the grant period, the grantee will make grants to support small, issue-based, community-level nonprofits across Turkey that have innovative programming and a vision for further organizational development. The grants will be funded by annual contributions from individual and corporate donors, and the grantee will grow the number of donors over the next two years. Some of the donors and other experts from the private sector will act as mentors to grantees. The grantee is based in Istanbul, Turkey.
