About this grant
The Instituto de Energia e Meio Ambiente is a national Brazilian think tank with expertise in energy planning, electrical engineering, and environmental law and policy. Over the previous grant period, the grantee studied pilot renewable energy projects in isolated communities and analyzed the public policy and institutional and economic structures that support the diesel-based model of electrical supply in the Amazon. The grantee will build on this knowledge over the next grant period to monitor changes in diesel use and greenhouse gas emissions and propose public policy and institutional structures to support an expansion of renewable energy solutions for isolated Amazon communities.
