About this grant
The Centro de Estudos Avançados de Promoção Social e Ambiental is a nonprofit organization in the Amazon founded in 1985 to promote sustainable community development and Amazon forest conservation by improving public policies and quality of life of children, youth, indigenous peoples, and minorities. Over the past project period, the grantee’s Health and Happiness Project installed solar electricity and pumping systems in four communities and one forest research center in the Tapajos-Arapiuns Extractive Reserve and held solar workforce and operations and management trainings for members of the reserve. Over the next project period, the organization will expand its installation of solar systems; test small-scale biogas production; participate in design and implementation of a national renewable energy trade fair; conduct training; and monitor and collect data to publish results of its systems operation and management for replication.
