About this grant
Instituto Socioambiental implements sustainable and renewable energy systems for local communities in Brazil’s poorest and most isolated regions in the Amazon rainforest. This project proposes to implement a mini-grid energy system including renewable solar energy in the Xingu Indigenous Park that will serve the population of 6,000 indigenous people from 16 different ethnic groups, living in 80 small communities. Upon its completion, the project will be a reference model for distributed renewable energy generation in isolated communities in the Amazon.
