About this grant

The program goal is to support dialogue between European Union-based and Russian civil society actors. The program will seek to foster a vibrant civil society and encourage solidarity in the face of growing moves to limit the space for independent action across the continent. The EU-Russia Civil Society Forum, currently a project hosted by the German-Russian Exchange, will work toward three objectives. First, through workshops and urgent actions, it will foster regular dialogue and support solidarity activities among its members on topics of common interest. Second, through research, policy analysis, public briefings, and targeted conferences, it will seek to raise awareness of civil society perspectives on current challenges facing the respective societies. Finally, the forum will strengthen its own institutional capacity with a view to registering as a separate legal entity. The German-Russian Exchange was registered in 1992 and is the leading nongovernmental organization in Germany working with civil society groups in Eastern Europe.
