About this grant

Flint Riverkeeper was founded in 2008 by a diverse group of Georgians with the mission of restoring and preserving the habitat, water quality, and flow of the Flint River for the benefit of current and future generations and dependent wildlife. Throughout the Flint River watershed, natural river flow patterns have been dramatically altered by a number of factors, including poorly planned land development, excessive withdrawals, and inefficient water use. Over the next two years, the grantee will promote policy reforms that improve the management of river flows in the Flint watershed; establish a comprehensive land conservation plan for the watershed as a means to restore flows; and build the local constituency necessary to make such progress.
