About this grant
The United Nations Foundation was established in 1988 in order to support the goals and objectives of the United Nations. The grantee has been actively engaged in the efforts to provide electricity for poor rural communities in developing countries through the Energy Access Practitioner Network and the Mini-Grids Partnership. Through its efforts over the past two years, the grantee has helped to unify the distributed energy access sector; accelerate learning and development of the sector; and raise the profile of distributed energy on the global agenda. Over the next year, the grantee will continue to accelerate the deployment of clean energy mini-grids in developing countries, share knowledge among network members, and reassess their role in supporting the energy access sector.
