About this grant

The program goal is to enable donors to provide system leadership and practical support for civil society actors addressing the global trend of closing space for civil society. Specifically, Global Dialogue, through its funder network called Ariadne, will coordinate the Funders’ Initiative for Civil Society in order to provide stakeholders with research, information, and support to coordinate and align their grants and strategies. The initiative will seek to become a point of contact between governments, regional and multilateral institutions, and philanthropic donors to advocate for civil society. Additionally, it will act as an urgent warning system for civil society organizations, human rights defenders, and funders facing growing threats to the space in which they operate. The initiative is a collaborative program managed by the grantee and directly involving a range of private funders, the Ariadne network, the International Human Rights Funders Group, and the European Foundation Centre. Founded in the United Kingdom in 2006, Global Dialogue implements programs supporting human rights and social change and funder collaboration around the world.
