About this grant
Founded in 1928 as an art school, the Flint Institute of Arts is currently located in the DeWaters Art Center building on the Flint Cultural Center campus. Improvements over the last decade, including the addition of new galleries, upgrades to the Art School kiln and studio space, expanded public areas, and ongoing enhancements to visitor amenities have allowed the art institute to continue to engage patrons and attract new audiences. Annually, around 150,000 children and adults visit the galleries, participate in education programs, take art classes, or attend events held at the art institute. The Flint Cultural Center Corporation, the supported organization of the Flint Cultural Center Foundation, owns and maintains the 33-acre cultural center campus. This grant will support the construction of a hot glass studio and gallery space to display glass and ceramic art work.
