About this grant

Michigan’s Upper Peninsula currently faces unique and pressing challenges when it comes to reliable, affordable, and locally accessible energy. Residents are experiencing some of the highest electric rates in the nation. With this grant, the Superior Watershed Partnership will help lay the groundwork for a regional energy plan that will chart the transition to a new system that enables the region to manage its own energy future. The grantee will do so by assessing the region’s energy assets, costs, and demands, and by working with diverse stakeholders to build community-based support for a regional approach to energy planning.
