Afterschool Policy and System Building Initiative

About this grant

This grant to the Foundation for California Community Colleges will enable the California Afterschool Network to maintain and increase access to high quality afterschool and summer programs in California. Through this grant, the network will work with its partners to strengthen California’s existing system of afterschool and summer learning system by: 1) working to raise awareness of the importance of high quality afterschool and summer learning programs in California; 2) coordinating a state effort to address potential workforce shortages for afterschool programs; 3) leading field-based communications; and 4) developing a centralized database of afterschool programs. The network will share best practices with other state networks in strengthening an existing afterschool system to enhance quality and access for high-need students.
