About this grant

This grant to the Minnesota Department of Education will enable Ignite Afterschool to increase access to high quality afterschool and summer programs in Minnesota. Through this grant, the network will focus on addressing the afterschool opportunity gap between low-income youth and their higher income peers in Minnesota by: 1) implementing a strategic communications effort that highlights research-based evidence on afterschool programs for policymakers, parents, and the public; 2) increasing youth and parent engagement in support of afterschool programs; and 3) deepening partnerships among key stakeholders to strengthen and expand the statewide network. This project will help inform the field nationally by providing tools that can be adapted for use in other states, including model approaches for addressing the opportunity gap, as well as partnership models that build capacity of statewide networks.
