About this grant
Jazz at Lincoln Center is a not-for-profit arts organization dedicated to broadening and deepening participation in the jazz music genre. The grantee’s continuum of educational programs includes Jazz for Young People on Tour, which provides schools with expert jazz ensembles that offer professional development for teachers and interactive performances for students. As part of this project, the grantee will pilot the tour in Flint as a three-part concert series for Flint Community Schools’ students and their parents. This grant will also enable Jazz at Lincoln Center to convene a national taskforce of leaders from the afterschool and arts education fields, and develop a model for afterschool jazz arts education. The resulting model will be piloted and disseminated throughout the afterschool field and among school districts around the country.
