About this grant

The Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) program is an academic mentoring, career exploration and enrichment program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students. Mott support will enable the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to implement various strategies and efforts aimed at expanding the ACT-SO program’s visibility, footprint, and impact as measured by increased participation by local chapters, increased student participation, and increased local and national partnerships that increase training and financial resources available to students. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is an African-American civil rights organization formed in 1909. Its mission is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.
