About this grant

Established in 2009 by seven leading foundations, the Puerto Rico Foundations Network exists to enhance the ability of philanthropy and nonprofit organizations to improve the lives of vulnerable populations. A current high priority for the grantee is to strengthen Puerto Rico’s philanthropy infrastructure in order to respond to the crises facing the commonwealth—recovery from Hurricane Maria and huge fiscal debt. To advance this priority, the grantee will support collaborative efforts among foundations and community-based organizations, enhance the capacity of community-based organizations, advocate for policy alternatives to promote the resilience of organizations serving vulnerable groups, and engage more philanthropic actors in effective responses to Puerto Rico’s recovery.
