About this grant

This grant will enable the University of California – Irvine to carry out further research to support afterschool programs. This project will allow the grantee to further build upon the Mott-funded Study of Promising After-School Programs and the Study of Early Child Care and Youth Development. Specifically, the grantee will follow up with the participants from the previous project to provide an unprecedented opportunity to identify potential long-term effects of organized afterschool activities on adult outcomes including educational attainment, earnings, occupation, family formation, physical and mental health, and civic engagement. In addition, this project will build upon previous work to complete a research synthesis of seminal studies on the positive impacts of afterschool programs on student outcomes.
