About this grant

The development finance landscape across Asia has changed rapidly over the past decade. Chinese investments in developing countries have increased exponentially and present a major shift in the source and structure of development finance. To address the environmental and social impacts of Chinese development finance, Inclusive Development International was established in 2012 to support and build the capacity of communities affected by these investments. The grantee has been key in raising awareness of the need to strengthen the environmental and social policies of Chinese development finance institutions, particularly the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. Over the next grant period, the grantee will undertake work to strengthen civil society understanding of Chinese investments; convene diverse groups to develop strategies to address such financing; map Chinese finance and research on specific projects; and monitor implementation of Chinese development finance institutions’ environmental and social policies.
