About this grant

Hlanganisa Institute of Development Southern Africa NPC, previously known as Hivos – South Africa, was established in 2006 to seek new and innovative solutions to persistent social challenges. The Multi-Agency Grants Initiative, managed by the grantee, is a collaborative venture between various funders in South Africa. Its purpose is to provide a responsive mechanism for making small grants to community-based organizations, including community advice offices. Past support to the grantee allowed them to disburse grants to 20 community advice offices, help unlock strategic partnerships for advice offices, promote women leadership in the governance structures of advice offices, and strengthen the institutional arrangements of these offices. Ongoing support will allow the grantee to continue to provide resources and capacity to community advice offices and to document the organizational capabilities of the staff at advice offices in the Free State province of South Africa.
