About this grant
Over the next year, Practical Action will explore the expansion of its East Africa work promoting clean energy access to include Tanzania. It will identify existing actors in the sector, political and economic factors that influence the sector, and opportunities to strengthen the sector. The aim is to provide support to local stakeholders in Tanzania as well as understand how the Poor People’s Energy Outlook, one of the grantee’s primary contributions to the field, can be used to assist policy reform work in the country. The grantee expects its intervention in Tanzania will create an environment where entrepreneurs and the private sector can confidently make informed and sustainable investments in clean energy access. This grant increase will lead to recommendations and plans for potential activities that the grantee may undertake to add value to the ongoing efforts of others working on energy access in Tanzania.
