About this grant
The National Alliance for the Development of Community Advice Offices was initiated in 2005 as an alliance of seven civil society organizations aimed at strengthening and sustaining the community advice office sector in South Africa. It is committed to the long-term development of community advice offices as a way of ensuring access to justice within poor communities. Community advice offices provide free, basic legal advice and other social services to poor people. Past support assisted the grantee to link advice offices with relevant training opportunities and to conduct research to help articulate the value of community advice offices. This grant increase will enable the grantee to improve its institutional capacity, and to provide direct support to community advice offices in the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, and Mpumalanga provinces.
