About this grant

The project goal is to promote community philanthropy in Brazil. The Institute for the Development of Social Investment will conduct research on organizations that have the potential to become community philanthropy organizations in the state of Sao Paolo, Brazil. Based on its investigations, the grantee will assess and select a set of ten organizations according to a development scale designed with input from national and international experts and convene a group of the five to eight most promising organizations for a three-session workshop. The workshop sessions will focus on understanding the community philanthropy organizations’ needs and collectively designing an ideal support platform for the development of community foundations in Brazil. Founded in 1999, the Institute for the Development of Social Investment is a philanthropy service organization that promotes private social investment and strategic philanthropy, primarily in Brazil but also throughout Latin America, and it is an affiliate of the Charities Aid Foundation Global Alliance.
