About this grant
The Mayors Innovation Project, an initiative of the University of Wisconsin, is a network of engaged municipalities and utility leaders with strong connections to national experts. With previous support from the Mott Foundation, the grantee has provided technical support in Great Lakes cities on water and sustainability challenges and has built a body of expertise assisting cities in thinking holistically in an integrated fashion when facing water management challenges. Renewed support will enable the grantee to advance water affordability programs in Great Lakes cities, while learning from the best practices across the nation. Over the next two years, the grantee will conduct research, publish written findings, organize and host events, including one in Flint or southeast Michigan, and provide technical assistance directly to select cities on the critical question of how cities can provide clean, safe, and affordable water for their residents.
