Afterschool Policy and System Building Initiative

About this grant

This grant to the Connecticut After School Network will enable the Connecticut Statewide Afterschool Network to increase the availability of high quality afterschool programs and summer programs in Connecticut. Through this grant, the grantee will focus on improving the quality of afterschool programs, particularly in the area of social and emotional learning. This grant will: 1) improve program quality by building staff skills and knowledge of social and emotional learning, mental health, and parent engagement; 2) expand connections with parents; and 3) build a statewide cross-sector council around supporting students’ social and emotional learning and mental health. The grantee will share lessons learned with other state networks in strengthening an existing afterschool system to enhance quality for high need students.
