Afterschool Policy and System Building Initiative

About this grant

This grant to the Fund for Educational Excellence will enable the Maryland Statewide Afterschool Network to launch, support, and sustain an emerging statewide coalition in support of community schools. The grantee will serve as a vehicle to improve student outcomes through the addition of coordinated wraparound services, as well as provide a platform to significantly expand access to afterschool and summer learning opportunities. This grant will: 1) expand and convene a statewide community schools coalition; 2) develop materials and resources to support the education and outreach efforts of the coalition; 3) design and provide technical assistance and support for an evaluation and data collection framework for Maryland community schools; and 4) develop and implement new training and technical assistance opportunities specific to the Maryland community school field. The grantee will share lessons learned with other state networks on partnerships between afterschool and community schools.
