Afterschool Policy and System Building Initiative

About this grant

This grant to the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation will enable the Nebraska Statewide Afterschool Network to support underserved rural communities and develop partnerships that can support statewide policy change and program development. This grant will: 1) work with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services to reduce barriers for programs to meet school-based and child-care regulations; 2) develop, pilot, field-test, and scale up career exploration curriculum and activities for expanded learning programs; and 3) build local and state partnerships to ensure local relevance and sustainability. The grantee will share lessons learned with other state networks in strengthening an existing afterschool system to enhance quality for disadvantaged students.
