About this grant
Many small, off-grid renewable energy companies have been launched over the past decade to address the energy access challenge in Sub-Saharan Africa. However, most do not have access to financing that allows them to develop needed innovations. To address these innovation challenges for the energy access sector, Stichting EnAccess was established. Over the past grant period, the grantee developed five projects that assisted local African energy access companies with upgrading their network and payments systems, providing customer survey capabilities, and in developing expanded mini-grid businesses. This general purpose funding will continue to support EnAccess’ organizational development, as well as expanding their open source tools to accelerate energy access solutions for off-grid communities in Africa.
