About this grant
The Social Justice Initiative was established in 2013 to create awareness of the importance of social justice causes in South Africa. It partners with philanthropists and civil society organizations to raise funds and support fair access to constitutional rights, better delivery of services, and a stronger democracy. Past support enabled the grantee to unlock over $5 million from wealthy South Africans to support 80 social justice organizations and causes. In addition, the Social Justice Initiative generated interest and support for social justice programs from the private sector. This grant will assist the grantee to continue unlocking funding for initiatives that pursue systemic change and promote access to justice, accountable governance, and human rights in South Africa.
