About this grant

This grant provides general purpose support to the Council on Foundations, a national membership organization of more than 700 private foundations, community foundations, and corporate funders. The grantee’s mission is to provide the opportunity, leadership, and tools needed by philanthropic organizations to expand, enhance, and sustain their ability to advance the common good. Its near-term organizational goals are to: 1) position the council as a strategic leader that advances effective and dynamic philanthropy; 2) build and cultivate a collaborative and diverse philanthropic network; 3) continue to grow an effective and nimble organizational structure, grounded in sound financial systems and processes; and 4) foster a creative, collaborative, and entrepreneurial internal culture that encourages individual investment that lends to the collective success of the grantee. This grant increase will support additional expenses accrued by the council for its policy advocacy work, which has greatly intensified over the past six months.
