About this grant
The Global Fund for Community Foundations is a grassroots grantmaker working to promote and support institutions of community philanthropy around the world. The grantee supports individual community foundations and other local grantmakers and their networks with a particular focus on the Global South and the emerging economies of Central and Eastern Europe. Through small grants, technical support, and networking, the fund helps these local institutions to strengthen and grow so that they can fulfill their potential as vehicles for local development. During this grant period, they will 1) support institutional capacity among community foundations and similar philanthropic organizations to build social capital and enhance local decision-making processes in communities; 2) promote collaboration and networks that advance the field of community foundations and other local philanthropic institutions to increase their effectiveness; and 3) influence and build the relationship between the community foundation field and policymakers, governments, and international development agencies.
