About this grant

The Charity & Security Network promotes and protects nonprofit organizations’ ability to serve communities, support peace and human rights, aid civilians in areas of disaster and armed conflict, and build democratic governance. The grantee does this by convening stakeholders and engaging in dialogue with policymakers, promoting legal frameworks that protect the positive contribution civil society makes to human security, and by coordinating advocacy to support national security policies that respect the work of legitimate civil society organizations. The grantee’s goals for the upcoming grant period include: providing capacity building; monitoring, reporting, and responding to government action to protect the sector from undue restrictions; countering lawfare attacks on nonprofits; and working to make national security standards compliant with humanitarian and human rights law. The Charity & Security Network is a project of NEO Philanthropy, a funder intermediary launched in 1983 as Public Interest Projects.
