About this grant
Founded in 1985, the Conservation Fund is a national organization that promotes conservation and sustainable economic development. The grantee’s Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiative Network seeks to advance economic, environmental and social sustainability in Michigan’s Saginaw Bay area. With partial support from the Mott Foundation, the grantee has achieved the following during the last grant cycle: 1) regranted funds to partner organizations to improve water quality and freshwater habitat in the Saginaw Bay watershed; 2) developed a project focused on increasing the reach of the network to more diverse audiences and communities; 3) implemented recommendations from a Mott-supported report on septic system impacts on water quality in the basin; and 4) hosted a basin-wide conference, “State of the Bay,” in 2019. With this renewal, the grantee will continue to support the regranting program, focus on broadening the reach of the network to more diverse audiences, convene stakeholders in the Saginaw Bay watershed and build on previous successes with septic system education.
