About this grant
The Canadian Environmental Law Association is a nationwide organization that provides legal aid, education, outreach and access to the decision making process for under-represented constituents in Ontario, Quebec and federally. With previous support from the Mott Foundation, the grantee has provided trusted analysis and guidance for decision makers and the public on Great Lakes issues ranging from harmful contaminants in water, watershed planning and protection of drinking water. With renewed support, the grantee will expand its network of constituencies, emphasizing indigenous communities and others, connecting them with the establishment of sound public policies to protect and enhance the Great Lakes. The grantee will lead efforts promoting safe drinking water, free from lead and other toxic chemicals and maintaining strong local organizations to protect watersheds.
