About this grant

Founded in 1937, the Michigan United Conservation Clubs is the nation’s largest statewide coalition of conservation clubs. The grantee works to unite its 40,000 individual and 200 organizational members to conserve, protect and enhance Michigan’s natural resources and outdoor heritage. Since its founding, the grantee has provided a buffer in Michigan against political interference in fish and wildlife stewardship and habitat management, ensuring a science-driven approach to conservation issues. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about an increase in the number of people hunting, fishing, camping and enjoying Michigan’s wealth of resources. With this grant, the grantee will help connect those people with conservation matters. The Michigan United Conservation Clubs will also work to ensure protection and restoration of Michigan’s Great Lakes, rivers and streams through advocacy, education, communications and stewardship.
