About this grant
American Rivers is a national organization with a strong leadership footprint in the Great Lakes region. The grantee has actively engaged on water quality issues in the Great Lakes for many years, with an emphasis on diffusing sources of runoff and pollution. With previous support from the Mott Foundation, the grantee has helped advance an integrated, holistic approach to water management that considers pollution from all sources and drinking water from source to tap. The grantee has supported community groups and partners and has produced a report on all eight Great Lakes state’s drinking water policies. With this renewal, American Rivers will continue to advance integrated water management with a special emphasis on green infrastructure solutions, ensuring that water services are equitable for disadvantaged communities, advancing innovative funding solutions and providing direct support for community groups.
