About this grant
The Metropolitan Planning Council works with government, community, and business leaders to address planning and development challenges in the Chicagoland area. Communities around Chicago suffer from degrading water infrastructure, leaking pipes, and widely varying water rates. Lake Michigan is threatened by Asian Carp and other aquatic invasive species migrating up the Chicago River. The grantee will conduct water affordability research, provide training to local officials on water management best practices, and help lead the Chicago Area Waterways Advisory Council, a group striving to protect Lake Michigan from invasive species.
