About this grant

The Entrepreneurship Management and Development Foundation was established in 2010 to assist individuals and micro, small, and medium enterprises in Tanzania to develop stronger entrepreneurial skills. A particular focus is the development of off-grid renewable energy companies. Tanzania’s national electric grid reaches very few people, with only seven percent of its rural populations having access to electricity. To reach the rural areas, it is crucial that entrepreneurs are provided with adequate training and mentoring to develop these businesses. Through this grant, entrepreneurs will be trained in managing financial and operational concerns; balancing social and commercial goals; identifying products and solutions to meet the needs of poor clients; and developing viable supply and distribution networks to reach the most difficult areas.
