About this grant
The Research Foundation of the City University of New York was created to expedite and provide oversight of the management of funds obtained by faculty. The International Fellows Program on Community Philanthropy is operated by the Center of Philanthropy and Civil Society within The Graduate Center of the grantee. Each year, the program offers emerging young leaders and seasoned community foundation practitioners from foreign countries opportunities to learn about community foundations through an intensive graduate program of research, seminars, conferences, and mentoring. Since its inception in 1989, 218 individuals from 66 countries have participated. The grantee’s program has sparked the creation of new philanthropic ventures and research resources in places as diverse as New Zealand, South Korea, Turkey, India, South Africa, and Uruguay. Founded in 1846, the grantee is among the nation’s leading urban public universities.
