About this grant
This grant will provide general purpose support to the Harlem Children’s Zone in its mission to end generational poverty in Central Harlem. With much acclaim, the grantee model reaches over 13,000 children, guiding them through academic excellence and successful transitions to college and future careers, ultimately making life beyond poverty attainable. Renewal support for the next two years will focus on deepening impact in areas that require intentional and concentrated assistance in alignment with the grantee’s strategic priorities, including: 1) an integrated college and career readiness approach for students served; 2) increased engagement with Harlem’s St. Nicholas community; 3) expanded wellness and mental health promotions for staff, students and families; and 4) succession planning to cultivate the next generation of Harlem Children’s Zone leaders.
