About this grant
The Instituto de Clima e Sociedade is a Brazilian philanthropic and regranting organization that promotes prosperity, justice, and low-carbon development in Brazil. Currently, the Brazilian Amazon state of Roraima is experiencing an energy crisis, with severe blackouts, and is almost entirely dependent on diesel fuel to meet the electrical needs of the state’s more than 500,000 people. The grantee will work with Brazilian partners and federal and state energy planners to develop a series of technical reports needed to develop a 100 percent renewable energy delivery model using solar, wind, and biomass for the Amazon state of Roraima.
