About this grant
This grant provides renewal support to the Council on Foundations, a national membership organization founded in 1949 that currently represents over 750 private foundations, community foundations, and corporate funders. The council’s mission is to provide the opportunity, leadership, and tools needed by philanthropic organizations to expand, enhance, and sustain their ability to advance the common good. It does this by: 1) strengthening the existing bonds between funders who have a lot in common, while simultaneously building bridges between those whose differences provide fertile ground for learning and growth; 2) representing its diverse and varied membership to the public and to policymakers on Capitol Hill and in the Executive Branch; 3) listening to and having conversations with the philanthropic sector’s supporters and critics whose insights can help make us stronger; 4) offering trainings and professional development programs that build and cultivate an engaged network of philanthropic leaders; 5) helping grantmakers navigate the regulatory environment of giving in the United States and around the world; and 6) supporting an ecosystem where giving can thrive globally.
