About this grant
The Eastern Cape NGO Coalition was established in 1995 to support the work of development organizations in the Eastern Cape province in South Africa. Its membership includes faith-based, community-based, and nonprofit organizations that work to build a vibrant civil society sector in the province. Past support enabled the grantee to bring together civil society organizations to discuss issues that impact their work, such as changes to legislation, poor service delivery to communities, and limited government funding for social services. The grantee also provided training to government officials and civil society practitioners on the asset-based community development approach and institutional strengthening modules. This grant will support the coalition to continue leading discussions and debates on issues that impact its members and the communities they serve. The grantee will also create spaces for dialogue between government, businesses, and civil society organizations to encourage partnerships.
