About this grant
This grant increase will strengthen the community leadership capacities of community foundations in Michigan that wish to support a transition to clean energy in their locales. During 2017, the Council of Michigan Foundations, along with community leadership and clean energy experts, led a group of community foundations through a series of educational activities to help them understand and advance clean energy transition in their communities. Through that work, four community foundations submitted grant requests to the Mott Foundation. Over the next 20 months, the grantee will provide consulting support, technical assistance, and convening opportunities as the four community foundations implement their projects. They will also document and disseminate results of their work broadly to the community foundation field. The Council of Michigan Foundations is a statewide association of more than 330 grantmakers that provide its members with educational services, networking opportunities, and advocacy with policymakers.
