About this grant

Journalists and news organizations have a responsibility at every level to deliver consistent and well-informed coverage of environmental issues. The Society of Environmental Journalists helps reporters, editors, and producers deepen their knowledge and generate updated, forward-looking news reports on complex issues. With partial Mott support, the grantee will hold its 2018 annual conference in Flint, Michigan, hosted by the University of Michigan-Flint. The conference will offer more than three dozen sessions and nine full-day tours over five days, covering a range of issues including drinking water and freshwater conservation issues. The project will also include an intensive, three-day tour for a smaller group of journalists to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
