About this grant
The Great Lakes Environmental Law Center was established in 2008 as a not-for-profit environmental organization with a mission to protect the Great Lakes ecosystem. With prior Mott support, the grantee provided legal and policy support to assist with implementation of the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act at the state level; implementation of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact; and protection of Great Lakes water quality through specific requests from partners. With renewed support, the grantee will continue supporting citizen groups to ensure safe and affordable drinking water, protect the Great Lakes from polluted stormwater, protect Lake Erie against harmful algal blooms, and protect streams and wetlands.
